Pole Foundations

Welcome to Foundations

Every journey starts somewhere

Whether you’ve never touched a pole before or you’re returning after time away, Foundations has been designed to help you build confidence, strength and technique in a supportive environment.

At High, we believe learning should never feel intimidating. That’s why our beginner pathway is delivered through structured courses, allowing you to learn alongside the same group each week, with every session building on the last.

There are no waiting lists between weekly drop-in classes, no feeling left behind and no pressure to keep up. Instead, you’ll follow a clear pathway, supported by experienced instructors who are invested in your progress from day one.

Why Foundations?

Unlike traditional beginner classes, Foundations is split into two stages, giving every student the opportunity to progress at their own pace.

Some students are ready to move quickly, while others benefit from spending a little longer developing strength and confidence. Neither is better—they’re simply different journeys.

Our instructors will guide you towards the stage that’s right for you.

Foundations Entry (Level 1)

Perfect for complete beginners

6-week structured course

This is where your journey begins.

You’ll learn:

  • Pole safety and terminology
  • Grip techniques and body positioning
  • Pole walks and pirouettes
  • Beginner spins
  • Pole sits
  • Confidence building
  • Pole-specific conditioning

No previous experience is needed.

Everyone begins together, creating a welcoming and encouraging environment where you’ll learn alongside others at exactly the same stage.

Who is this for?

✔ I’ve never tried pole before.

✔ I’m nervous about starting.

✔ I want to learn with other beginners.

✔ I want a structured introduction rather than a drop-in class.

Foundations Progression (Level 2)

Preparing for Take Off

Once you’ve completed Foundations Entry—or if you’ve already developed some basic experience—you’ll move into the second stage of Foundations.

This course is all about developing the strength, control and confidence needed before joining our main 8-week journey.

You’ll continue working on:

  • Confident climbs
  • Pole sit variations
  • Basework leg holds
  • Linking movements together
  • Strength and conditioning
  • Invert preparation

This stage also forms part of our Skills Lab programme, making it an excellent option for students who want to revisit fundamentals, rebuild confidence or develop greater strength before or whilst they progress further.

Who is this for?

✔ I’ve completed Foundations Entry.

✔ I have some pole experience but want stronger fundamentals.

✔ I’m working towards inverts.

✔ I want to improve strength and confidence.

The High Difference

A journey, not just a class.

At High, we don’t believe learning pole should feel rushed or inconsistent.

Our structured courses mean:

✔ The same supportive group learns together each week.

✔ Every lesson builds on the previous one.

✔ Your place is guaranteed throughout your course.

✔ You’ll never miss key learning because you couldn’t get into a class.

✔ Our instructors get to know you and support your individual progress.

It’s a more consistent, enjoyable and rewarding way to learn.

Support Beyond the Studio

Every Foundations student has the opportunity to continue developing outside the studio.

Through our online training platform* you’ll have access to carefully designed strength, mobility and conditioning sessions that complement what you’re learning in class.

These short sessions help build the strength and confidence that make learning pole feel easier, safer and more enjoyable.

Because great progress doesn’t only happen during one hour each week.
