Pole Dance
Pole Dance at High brings pole dancing into a studio environment with numerous benefits including improved strength, posture, toning, sculpture, flexibility, coordination and can give you a massive boost of confidence and body awareness. It increases stamina and overall can burn many calories too. Most of all it is a FUN way to dance and get fit at the same time, which is an absolute must at High!
We offer a variety of styles to suit every personality and goal, including Pole Skills, Pole Heels, Spinny Pole, Pole Flow, and Pole Choreography – so there’s truly something for everyone.
Pole is a progressive activity, there is SO much you can achieve BUT you must walk before you can run as we want to ensure your safety and build your confidence. We have developed courses that build your ability using a mixture of moves including spins, tricks, floor work, lifts and climbs building combinations that flow and challenge you.

If pole is something you’ve always been curious about – go for it! You might just discover a new passion, boost your confidence, and surprise yourself with what your body can do. Many of our students say starting pole was the best decision they ever made.
Most importantly…
Let go of your nerves. Everyone starts somewhere, and we promise – once you’re spinning, laughing, and discovering your strength, you’ll forget all about feeling shy. No one’s watching you; they’re all busy enjoying their own journey. At High, we’re a welcoming, supportive, slightly bonkers aerial family, and we can’t wait to welcome you in.
Please read our Pole Etiquette below before attending a class, this will help you prepare.
Important Information
Before You Arrive:
- Location: We’re tucked just behind the FlexSpace building on Stafford Drive, in the Battlefield Enterprise Park, Shrewsbury. Be sure to leave plenty of time to find us, especially if it’s your first visit.
- Wear the right kit: Come dressed in leggings or joggers and a comfy top, with shorts and a crop top underneath. As you progress, you’ll need more skin exposed for grip, but we’ll guide you on that step by step.
- Skip the moisturiser: Avoid moisturising on the day of your class – it can make gripping the pole tricky. If your skin is very dry, moisturise the night before instead.
- No jewellery, please: Remove rings, bracelets, and watches – they’re a safety risk, can damage the poles, and reduce your grip.
During & After Class:
- Talk to your instructor: Let us know if you have any injuries or health conditions before we begin. We’re here to support you and can help adjust things if needed.
- Ask questions! We’re always happy to chat after class, whether it’s about what to expect next or where to go from here.
- You don’t need to be strong to start Pole – building strength is one of the main goals of our classes, not a requirement to begin.
- Choose a studio and instructor where you feel comfortable and safe. A supportive environment makes all the difference when you’re trying something new.
- Muscle soreness after your first class is totally normal. It’s a sign your body is working in new ways! Any discomfort should ease within a couple of days.
- Loved your first course? You get priority to continue in your current timeslot so you are guaranteed to be able to continue your pole journey as long as you wish – spaces fill up quickly and we’d love to keep you flying with us and once you’re in you are in!
Basics:
- Bring your own filled water bottle to stay hydrated.
- Late arrivals (more than 5 mins after class start time) will not be allowed to join the session due to disruption to the class & missing the warm-up essential for the intensity of activities.
- No transfers or refunds will be given for late arrival beyond 5 minutes.
- No alcohol to be consumed prior to class
